Building Resources for Innovation, Digital Growth and Empowerment

BRIDGE — Building Resources for Innovation, Digital Growth and Empowerment — is a 36-month Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project focused on strengthening the capacity of Pakistani higher education institutions in industry-relevant digital technologies.

The project addresses the growing gap between academic training and the digital technology requirements of industry in Pakistan. It brings together Pakistani, Irish and Greek higher education institutions to develop a sustainable ecosystem for digital innovation, skills development and workforce upskilling.

BRIDGE focuses on areas including Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Robotics, Edge Computing, Data Science, Cyber-Physical Systems, Smart Manufacturing, Generative AI and Extended Reality.

The project combines faculty development, specialized bootcamps, curriculum modernization, Centers of Excellence, industry collaboration and outreach activities. Bootcamp content will be integrated into undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, while selected training programmes will support Continuing Professional Development for professionals.

A key component of BRIDGE is the establishment of Centers of Excellence for Industry 5.0 and Digital Innovation, providing facilities such as Fab Labs, XR Labs, GenAI Labs, and Business, Ideas and Exhibition spaces. These facilities will support technology-driven learning, prototyping, research, innovation and stronger academia–industry collaboration.

The project also places emphasis on gender inclusivity, with dedicated activities designed to increase women's participation and leadership in digital technology and STEM fields.

BRIDGE is designed to create sustainable capacity within Pakistani higher education institutions through international knowledge exchange, faculty training, modernized curricula, industry engagement and continued professional development.
